I have dedicated the last 14 years to the Washington State Department of Corrections. I have held many different positions within Stafford Creek and currently am a Correctional Unit Supervisor. I have been appointed as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator of the facility.
The entirety of my K-12 education was within, the Aberdeen School District. I graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1999. I attended Grays Harbor Community College and participated in the Women’s Basketball Program. I successfully fulfilled my two years and graduated with my Associates Degree in 2001.
I currently have a daughter in the Aberdeen School District, along with many friends/family and community members. My goal is to contribute to the conversation and maintain a positive and safe learning environment. It is imperative that each child feels supported and has the opportunity to reach their potential, by reinforcing the fundamentals of education.
All across the country Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) are igniting conversations amongst parents and school boards. CRT is a curriculum that labels individuals and creates divide. Children do not see color; therefore, we should not be encouraging or teaching them to see black/white or oppressor/oppressed. We should be encouraging children to be kind to one another, because they see human.
CSE has and will strip parents of their moral obligations in raising their children appropriately. Each child is different in growth and development. What may be an appropriate time for one child, may not be for another. It is crucial that parents are supported and are the primary individuals, whom should have these types of conversations with their children. CSE is a dangerous assault on the health and innocence of children.
Thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to being a stakeholder in the Aberdeen School District.
