Elma High School Moving Backwards

On the heels of the Governor's announcement to reopen the state fully in June, Elma Superintendent Kevin Acuff releases the following statement tonight.

"Good evening families. I am writing to inform you that Elma HS and East Grays Harbor HS will return to a hybrid model beginning May 24 and remain in hybrid through the end of the school year. Student cohort assignments will remain the same. Cohort A will attend on Monday and Tuesday and cohort B will attend on Wednesday and Thursday. We genuinely appreciate your patience and flexibility, as we once again need to make a schedule change in the best interest of student health, safety and well-being."

This announcement comes less than three months after Elma School District's reopening plan. The announcement set off a frenzy of comments from unhappy parents on the School District's Facebook Page. Working parents have had to adjust schedules, work, family budgets and their family routines; all the while trying to keep their children focused on some type of hybrid or remote learning.

The next School Board Meeting will be held on May 25th, at 6:00 pm. Contact your elected School Board Members below:
