Retain Melvin Taylor for the Aberdeen City Council

My name is Melvin Taylor. I am currently serving as the Ward 1, Position 1 Council member and am looking to retain this position.

I am a single father of three daughters who have all graduated from the Weatherwax High School and attended Miller JR. High in South Aberdeen. This beautiful city is a special place to my family and I will continue to fight endlessly to create a safe, comfortable, clean, family-friendly city with livable wage jobs and top notch schools.

I work as a Substance Use Dependency Professional and have seen the effects of chemical dependency and mental health issues on our community and would like to be a positive proponent in helping to find a solution to this problem. I am involved in our community through neighborhood watch and have previously coached baseball. I have a degree in chemical dependency counseling from Grays Harbor College and a masters in public administration from The Evergreen State College.

I believe in listening to my constituents and taking what they say very seriously. I am their voice in these meetings and their concerns are my concerns. Like many of you, I find our fair city in a position of needing attention and am frustrated to see the current condition that we find our Aberdeen in. I want to be a part of the solution in bringing glory back to Aberdeen.

I am a passionate, strong, and educated voice of reason with an open heart and mind for my constituents and this beautiful city. I am accessible and involved. I have had experience in working with the issues of drug addiction, mental health, and homelessness in my current position as a counselor. I can see the struggles and a serious need for these issues to have a solution not just a band aid fix.

I believe in our local law enforcement and fully support their education and giving them the necessary tools to keep this city safe so we can have one less worry in our busy day. I will advocate for sound fiscal policy and procedures that incentivize local business growth.

Melvin Taylor is seeking to retain his seat as your Ward 1, Position 1 Aberdeen City Council member.
