The City of Ocean Shores would be lucky to have Patrick Daugherty

I reside in Ocean Shores with my wife and two special needs sons. We love and embrace this community and everyone we have encountered in it.

I joined the Airforce in 1975 and held the job title of Jet Engine Technician Trouble Shooting Specialist.

I hold AA degrees in Manufacturing Technology and in General studies, both from Clackamas Community College in Oregon. I am an Honors Scholar with PHI THETA KAPPA and was the President of the Honors Society.

I have a passion for motorcycles. I have owned the same Harley Davidson Electro-glide motorcycle for 30 years. It gets ridden every chance I get, at-least when the weather cooperates!

I have multiple recognition certificates of accomplishments from various organizations and companies throughout my working career. I was also the owner of a small trucking company. Now retired, I spend the majority of my working life in the trucking business holding positions from local, long haul driving to scheduling and management.

I currently volunteer delivering food boxes for our local food bank on distribution days and I volunteer at the Senior Center during food distribution events. I am also a member of the Ocean Shores Elks Lodge and the Lions club, where I hold the position of First Vice President.

As a volunteer and member of this community, it would be an honor to serve you in another capacity - as a member of the Ocean Shores City Council.

First, I have had many discussions with members of our community regarding access to an urgent care clinic. Our community is growing and the distance we travel for medical care is very concerning. As a councilperson, this will be a priority for me.

Secondly, our city was developed around waterways, these waterways have been neglected for many years. I see and understand our growing pains and the complexities that come with that growth. The blend of development in Real Estate and our business community poses a great challenge. Supporting and growing our business base and our Real Estate development in a responsible common-sense way is extremely important.

We need to make restoration and maintenance of these waterways a priority. Our city and its residents along with our tourists deserve this. I will work hard to make this happen. Given our current political environment and the challenges we all face with it, I feel one of the things we can do to help ease the divide is transparency. I believe my life experiences and education will help us achieve these goals in a positive and caring way for all.

It is the duty of elected officials to be transparent in every aspect of government. As your City Councilperson, I will do everything in my power to make sure the citizens get the information they request and deserve.

I look forward to serving!
